The Little King of Snuggles

The Shih Tzu is the dog that knows it’s royalty. Originating in China, these dogs were bred to be companions to Chinese royalty. They were pampered with luxurious coats and treated like little four-legged emperors, and guess what? Not much has changed! With their long, silky coats and sweet, gentle demeanor, Shih Tzus are still the pampered lap dogs they were bred to be.

They’re friendly, sociable, and excellent with children, which makes them great family pets. While not as active as some other breeds, Shih Tzus do enjoy a walk and a bit of playtime, but their main mission is to be loved—and they’re quite good at it. Their coat requires regular grooming, but for the most part, they’re content with lounging around on your lap, living the life they deserve. They’ll happily nap all day and soak up all the attention you can give them.
